On October 29th, the Fifth World Buddhist Forum opened in Putian City, Fujian Province. Wang Yang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, sent a congratulatory letter to the conference. You Quan, Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee, attended the opening ceremony of the forum and delivered a speech. The forum was sponsored by the Buddhist Association of China and the China Religious Culture Communication Association. More than 1,000 representatives and guests from Buddhist circles, experts and scholars and other social celebrities from 55 countries and regions attended the opening ceremony. Dou Enyong, Vice-President of China NGO Network for International Exchanges attended the forum at the invitation.

The theme of this forum is “Exchange for mutual learning, Middle Way for Perfect Harmony”. Participants conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as Buddhism and Belt and Road Initiative, Buddhism and a Collective Future for Humanity and Communication and Interaction Between Buddhism and Western Civilizations. The forum closed successfully on the afternoon of the 30th and adopted the "Declaration of the Fifth World Buddhist Forum".
