The Belt and Road Initiative has provided a remarkable platform for countries to strengthen connectivity, expand economic cooperation and promote people-to-people exchanges. More than infrastructure, the Belt and Road is about building bridges—bridges of trade, technology, knowledge, culture and friendship.
Looking ahead, I believe the prospects of Belt and Road cooperation are highly promising. High-quality development, digital connectivity, green development, innovation, health, education and human capacity building are the emphasis of the next stage. These areas can create new opportunities for developing countries and contribute to more inclusive global economic growth.
China's remarkable economic development is one of the defining transformations of our time. China has developed a vast manufacturing base, advanced infrastructure, strong technological capabilities and an increasingly innovative economy. The significance of this development goes beyond China's own borders. China's experience, market, technology, investment and connectivity are creating new opportunities for countries around the world.
For Pakistan, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, or CPEC, represents a particularly important dimension of Belt and Road cooperation. CPEC has created a strong foundation for cooperation in energy, infrastructure, transportation, industrial development and connectivity. With the evolution toward CPEC 2.0, there is tremendous potential to expand cooperation into agriculture, technology, science and innovation, special economic zones, digital development, vocational education and livelihoods.
I have personally experienced the practical benefits of the Belt and Road Initiative. One of the most meaningful opportunities in my professional and academic journey was receiving a scholarship to pursue my master’s degree at Tsinghua University, one of the world’s leading universities. This educational experience transformed my professional career and significantly deepened my understanding of China. At Tsinghua, I learned about the remarkable journey from China’s ancient civilization to Chinese modernization, and how China has achieved extraordinary development under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. China’s achievements, offer valuable lessons for the developing world under President Xi Jinping.
As a Pakistani media researcher, I have extensively analyzed China-Pakistan relations and the development of CPEC. With approximately US$25 billion invested under CPEC-related projects, China has contributed to transforming Pakistan’s economic landscape through Gwadar Port, Gwadar International Airport, vocational training centers, and investments in education, healthcare and other sectors.
The ultimate meaning of BRI projects is not simply economic figures. It is about creating opportunities for people, connecting communities and supporting sustainable development. This is where SIRONET can play an increasingly important role.
My first recommendation is that SIRONET should further strengthen its role as a bridge between Chinese and international civil society organizations, media, scholars, think tanks by creating more regular platforms for dialogue and exchange.
Second, SIRONET can establish more research and knowledge-sharing networks focusing on Belt and Road cooperation, CPEC, China's development experience, technological innovation and sustainable development and all other latest developments in China.
Third, SIRONET shall expand scholar exchanges. Young people are the future of China and global community friendship and for international cooperation. Academic exchanges, joint research, fellowships and cultural programs can create lasting connections.
And finally, SIRONET can become an even stronger platform for telling the real stories of cooperation—stories of students, entrepreneurs, researchers, communities and institutions that are building connections between China and the world. While having family-like connections with SIRONET as we all are growing with each other like a family by sharing our achievements with each other, I pay my gratitude’s to SIRONET for providing us such a great platform to connect with one another where we are connecting a civilization of thoughts, prosperity, peace and sustainable development and the credit really goes to the visionary minds responsible for working in SIRONET under their leadership.
The future of international cooperation belongs to partnership, connectivity, mutual learning and shared opportunities. Let us work together through SIRONET to strengthen mutual understanding, encourage dialogue among civil society organizations and build more bridges between China and the world.
May China-Pakistan friendship and Chinese friendship with global community continues to flourish. May Belt and Road cooperation continue to create opportunities for shared development. And may SIRONET continue to serve as a bridge of friendship, understanding and cooperation between peoples.
